Ithaca has, from its creation, been committed to
the conduct of independent, leading edge strategic and operations research. These have mainly been conducted in relation
to our Government and Corporate activities – but we have found the findings
apply equally to the problems / issues faced by our broad range of SME clients.
As a result of broad distribution and uptake of
the products of this research, Ithaca have been invited to present on their
findings to conferences in Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia. On this page you can find a synopsis of our
major papers – and presentations – with links enabling you to access the full
material.
Our ground-breaking strategic analysis of why many
operational and systems improvements targeted at the health sector don’t really
work – concluding with a range of suggestions on how to achieve successful,
sustainable change.
Since releasing this, Ithaca has successfully
introduced these BEYOND Lean changes into many hospital environments – in Australia
and Europe.
Ithaca completed this study on behalf of Sentient
Health in Japan and Australia in 2005. Placing each system implementation in
the context of their particular health service environment, Ithaca found that
very significant opportunity exists to introduce point-of-use systems into
hospital supply chains.
A very early application of the now called Lean
philosophy. Ithaca took a holistic approach to the elimination of waste
alongside major cultural and process change in six different environments.
Identifying the flaws in trying to use enterprise
applications to manage operational elements of a hospital’s activities. Points
out areas where different – best-of-breed pathways might be more appropriate.

– we will be interviewing representatives from across the health sector as part
of the research phase. Release is expected in early 2009.

the Anaheim Conference of AHRMM. The subject addressed was Making the Most of
Your Supply Chain Technology Investment…
The paper focused on firstly selecting the right
software to support already optimised processes – going on to discuss best
practice implementation methodologies. The idea for the paper was generated by
our observation of how many hospitals get this wrong!
